The in-line RF choke attenuates reflected RF power from the antenna back to the radio. We recommend using an in-line choke with end-fed half wave and end-fed random wire antennas when operating above QRP levels. Generally not needed with RF power levels of 5-10 watts. This may be needed above 20 watts and typically required above 50 watts.
This unit has a maximum power rating of 100 watts.
With BNC connectors on each end it works great with the PackTenna coax cables. We recommend putting the choke in the mid-point between the antenna and the radio.
